---
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
I am involved in organising a 3rd ENVAA Conference Dresden, Germany, May, 2008
During the days of September 13-14, 2006, I attended a kick off meeting for the next and 3rd conference of European voluntary and amateur arts associations. The conference is scheduled to be held in Dresden, Germany, in May, 2008.
The participants at the meeting were representatives of three countries that have participated in the work until now and of the Saxony State Association for Socio-Culture. The latter is now officially scrutinising the possibilities of organising this next conference and making a formal decision before December 31, 2006. The three other partners are taking an active role in the preparations and officially committing themselves to be legal partners of the conference.
At present, the three main objectives of the conference are:- · to summon representatives of voluntary and amateur arts associations from as many European countries as possible · to officially establish as a representative body the European Network of Amateur Arts (ENVAA) with constitution, manifest, executive body, etc. · to outline the work for the coming years, in particular the dissemination of information of mutual interest in order to secure that after the 2008 conference, it will be possible for the executive body of ENVAA to knock in doors to the politicians and bureaucrats of the European Union as well as the Council of Europe with the one purpose that · all those millions of European people that are active in amateur arts will have a possibility to develop and further their interests, devotion, and artistic aspirations through exchange with others on a European level.
We had a meeting with Mr. Christian Krentel-Seremet who is an official of the Saxon State Ministry for Culture and Science.
The 3rd conference must be seen as a further and important step in the continuation of the work that others have laid down in organising the conference ‘art4all’ in Utrecht, the Netherlands, in 2004 and the conference ‘Value, Include, Connect’ in Cardiff, Wales, UK, in 2005 - as well as the East and South European ECUCO conference in Portoroz, Slovenia, in 2004.
Therefore, we have labelled ourselves ‘the continuity committee:-
- Mr. Tobias Knoblich, Dresden, Germany, Manager of the Saxony State Association for Socio-Culture, www.soziokultur-sachsen.de and knoblich@soziokultur-sachsen.de
- Mr. Vojko Stopar, Ljubljana, Slovenia, Head of the International Department of the Republic of Slovenia Fund for Cultural Activities, www.jskd.si and vojko.stopar@jskd.si
- Mr. Leo van der Meer, Amsterdam, Netherlands, Director of the Foundation for Amateur Picturing Art, www.amateurkunst.net and vandermeer@sbakunst.nl
- Ms. Tina Møller Jakobsen, Copenhagen, Denmark, Secretary General of the Joint Council of Voluntary and Amateur Arts Associations in Denmark, www.akks.dk and akks@pc.dk
- Mr. Villy Dall, Hurup Thy, Denmark, President of the Joint Council of Voluntary and Amateur Arts Associations in Denmark, www.akks.dk and www.sitecenter.dk/villydall and vd@tdcspace.dk
We shall keep you posted with further developments, by October 15, 2006, regarding a more detailed statement of our intents, ideas, goals, and aims – and by January 1, 2007, as to the formal partnership regarding organising the 2008 conference.
Kind regards, VILLY DALL
